Privacy Policy

Effective October 11, 2026

This policy explains what Taileaf collects, how we use it, who receives it, where it is stored and accessed, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Taileaf app, the Taileaf website, and related services (the “Service”).

1. Who we are

Taileaf is operated by Shanghai Weiweidaolai Technology Co., Ltd. (“we”, “us”), a company in Shanghai, China. We decide how personal information in the Service is used.

Shanghai Weiweidaolai Technology Co., Ltd.
9F, No. 583 Lingling Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, China
Email: contact@taileaf.com

2. What we collect

  • Account: the identifier that Sign in with Apple gives us, and your name and email address if you choose to share them. If you choose to hide your email, we receive an Apple relay address.
  • Pets and entries: pet profiles and the entries you add, including pet health entries such as vaccines, medications, and vet visits. These describe your pet, not your own health.
  • Photos: photos you choose with the system photo picker or take with the camera, and documents you scan.
  • Location: precise location while you record a walk, with the route, duration, distance, and movement state; and location you attach to an entry, such as a nearby place. We collect location only after you allow it in iOS.
  • Care team: the names and roles of people on your pets’ care teams, and the messages and to-dos you share with them.
  • AI requests: the content you send through AI features and the results (see section 4).
  • Purchases: subscription and transaction details from Apple, such as the plan, period, status, and storefront. We do not receive your payment card details.
  • Identifiers: your account ID and IDs we assign to your devices and app installations.
  • Diagnostics and logs: server logs, errors, performance data, device model, OS and app version, and network information such as IP address; and diagnostic files you choose to send us.
  • Support and feedback: feedback you submit in the app (text, up to 4 images, device model, and OS version), our replies, and emails you send us.

We do not collect your contacts, your full photo library, advertising identifiers, or biometric data. Face ID is handled by iOS. Voice input is transcribed by Apple speech recognition; we receive the text.

3. How we use it

  • to provide the Service, store your entries, and sync them with your care team;
  • to run AI features (see section 4);
  • to manage subscriptions;
  • to keep the Service and accounts secure and prevent abuse;
  • to troubleshoot problems and improve the Service, including reviewing AI request records;
  • to answer your requests and feedback;
  • to comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

4. AI features and DeepSeek

Taileaf’s AI features use DeepSeek, a third-party AI model provider. DeepSeek processes AI requests in China.

AI features organize a quick note, edit an entry from your instructions, chat with you, and recognize a pet from a photo. Some start when you tap them. Organizing a quick note and recognizing a pet from a photo can start automatically after you add content.

For each request, we send DeepSeek the content the request needs: the text you type or dictate, pet photos you add for recognition, and pet details and entries related to the request, such as a pet’s name and species. A place name in an entry may be included. We do not send location coordinates.

Before AI features first send your content, the app asks for your permission and names DeepSeek. You can turn AI features off at any time in Settings → AI Features. When they are off, the app does not send your content to DeepSeek, and you can still add entries yourself. Turning them off does not recall content already sent.

DeepSeek processes this content to return results to us under our agreement with it. We keep records of AI requests, including the content sent and the result, as described in section 8.

We do not use your content to train AI models. Before we use identifiable content for that purpose, we will ask for your consent.

5. Who receives your information

  • Your care team: people on a pet’s care team see that pet’s book, including entries you add to it.
  • Service providers: cloud hosting, database, and storage providers in the United States; a monitoring provider that processes logs and metrics in Singapore; DeepSeek for AI features, in China; and Apple for sign-in, purchases, and notifications. They process information to provide services to us.
  • Legal reasons: when the law or valid legal process requires it, or when needed to protect the rights and safety of users, the public, or us.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
  • With your consent.

6. Where we store and access information

  • Storage: your account and content are stored in the United States.
  • AI processing: DeepSeek processes AI requests in China.
  • Logs and metrics: processed in Singapore. We filter them before they leave our servers. They do not contain your entries, but they can contain technical identifiers such as account IDs, device IDs, and IP addresses.
  • Access: our team is based in Shanghai, China. Authorized team members access personal information from China when needed to operate, secure, and support the Service.

These countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws where you live. We apply the protections in this policy wherever your information is processed.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and encrypted at rest where we store it. We limit access to personal information to people who need it. The Service is not end-to-end encrypted: our servers process your content to sync it and to run the features you use.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.

8. How long we keep it

  • Account, pets, entries, and photos: while your account exists. Entries you delete in the app move to Recently Deleted. You and your care team can restore them there for 30 days; after that they no longer appear in the app. We delete the stored copies when your account is deleted (section 9).
  • Records of AI requests, including the content sent and the result: 30 days.
  • Summary records used to evaluate AI quality: up to 90 days.
  • Logs and metrics at our monitoring provider: 14 days.
  • Backups: each backup copy is kept for up to 35 days, then deleted.
  • Feedback submitted in the app: while your account exists.
  • Administrator audit records: kept for security and compliance.

We may keep information longer when the law requires it.

9. Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app: Settings → Account & Security → Delete Account.

When you delete your account, we close it right away and it cannot be restored. Within 30 days, we delete or de-identify your personal information and delete all content you created, including entries and messages you added to pets that others own, and your feedback. Your photos that family members still use in their own entries or as a pet photo stay. If you created a pet that you share, we delete that pet and all its entries for everyone on its care team; an entry that is also linked to another pet that still exists stays with that pet. We keep administrator audit records for security and compliance. Backup copies expire within 40 days after you delete your account.

Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it in your Apple Account first.

10. Your rights and choices

In the app, you can view, edit, and delete your entries, turn AI features off, and delete your account. You can turn off location, camera, and other permissions in iOS Settings.

Depending on where you live, including under the privacy laws of Connecticut and other U.S. states, you may have the right to:

  • confirm whether we process your personal information, and access it;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • delete your information;
  • get a copy of your information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent, including for precise location and AI features;
  • opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, and certain profiling. We do not do these things.
To make a request, email contact@taileaf.com. We may need to verify your identity. We reply within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why, and we may extend by up to 45 more days. An authorized agent may make a request for you with proof of authorization. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
Appeals: if we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or by emailing contact@taileaf.com with “Appeal” in the subject. We reply to appeals within 60 days and explain our decision. If you disagree with the result, you can contact the attorney general of your state.

11. Children

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we delete it. Parents or guardians who believe this has happened can contact us.

12. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We do not track you across third-party websites or apps, and we do not allow third parties to collect personal information about your activity across sites through the Service. Our website has no analytics or advertising scripts. Because we do not track, we do not respond differently to Do Not Track signals. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so a Global Privacy Control signal does not change how we handle your information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows the current version. Before a material change takes effect, we will notify you in the app or by email. Before we use personal information for a purpose that is materially different from what this policy describes, we will ask for your consent. Earlier versions are available on request.
